As we go through these challenging times, we really need to stay in touch as a community. So I have been sharing many uplifting posts on Facebook, we have moved into Zoom, with our Ministry Class holding weekly classes, Started our “Wednesday Night Healing” meetings open to all on Zoom. I, along with Rita Biancosino, RScP, will be facilitating a new class, Spiritual Practices on April 14th. We have held many meetings on Zoom, all while Brenda Schuck and I learn how to facilitate this new way of functioning.  Our Practitioners have called many members of our community to offer prayer, and they are available for prayer. Their names and phone numbers are on our website, www.joyfulgathering.org .
Please stay well, and know that each of you is loved beyond measure. We are here for you.
In Deep Love,
Rev. Margaret

Discussion Group: Project Change

Our democracy hangs in the balance. So starts an article by Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. This is one of several articles that will be discussed during our discussion group, Project Change.

The discussion group was formed as a result of Alexander’s suggestion to create opportunities where individuals can increase their understanding of America’s history of racism and her inconsistent actions as they relate to the ideals of the Constitution.

We will use articles, videos and podcasts to explore topics that examine and give a better understanding of how we got to the multiracial and multigenerational protest that are happening today around the George Floyd murder.

This will be an overview with the goal being to ignite an interest into a deeper study of the cycles of American oppression and what can be done to create an inclusive society that more closely resembles the intent of the words of the constitution.
